First Week in Hudson Hall!
I can't believe a week has already gone by! I have gotten to know my fellow students in the program and learned a lot about their lab work and their backgrounds. Our group is very diversified in personal interests and each student is having a totally different experience in their labs, so it's very interesting to hear what goes on in their days. Some students have already done a ton of PCRs, some students have been out in the fields, and other students have been acquainted with the greenhouse. I look forward to hearing more about their summer experience!
As for me, Dr. Hsu-Kim's research group has been wonderful. All the people there are so helpful and friendly, and I have learned so much from them. They are always there to answer any questions I might have and have taught me a lot about lab work. It's fun working with them: not only have I somewhat learned how to use a HPLC machine, but I have also learned a lot about football and the Eurocup! I hope the rest of the summer is as great as the first week has been. Below is a picture of where I work. The building is named Hudson Hall and is home to the Pratt School of Engineering:

Being on Duke University's campus has also been quite an experience. I have gotten lost more times than I can count this week, but exploring the grounds with other students has been fun. We've discovered the merits of Bryan Center, the multiple libraries, and all the good places to eat.
I'm really looking forward to the rest of the summer!
