Thanks for the Memories
I miss Howard Hughes!!
It's the Monday after the poster session. . and I'm sitting here working on my lab notebook (no joke), but it's sad realizing that the next time I'll go into the lab, it won't be after a fantastically exciting morning session!
Yes, yes, you read that correctly, I will still be working in my lab for the rest of the year (until January most likely). Come August 13th I'll move back into school, get my schedule, and get to work wading in the swamp that will be senior year with physics, college apps, and research. I will be able to continue working on my project that started in Dr. Arepally's lab through my research class at NCSSM (and I'm really excited about that!). Through my research experiences this past summer and through talking with my mentor, I realized that I am seriously considering biochemistry research in the future. I know I will end up going to graduate school, which will involve research, and probably go as far as a doctorate/post-doc. I have thoroughly enjoyed the past seven weeks, and I feel like I've made the most of them!
As for this summer. . .what a ride! I met some fantastic people, including the members of my lab, my mentor, members of my "second" lab. . and of course the good ole precollege folk! What would lunch be without you guys? One word - lonely. I've learned so much about myself, about hematology, immunology, research, and other subjects too through our morning lectures, and through random conversations with my fellow researchers about their projects. The poster session was a blast, because I was seeing everyone's final product and what they had working so hard on for seven weeks. I'm really glad that all the HH people live in the area, which will make reunions simple!
I hereby extend heartfelt thanks to everyone involved in my summer. It was one epic ride full of everything from micropippeters to coffee addictions to t-shirt designing to . . legit data collection of course :o)
